Blog EntryMy Second Hand Made Bag (Tas ke-2 bikinanku)Mar 6, '07 5:26 AM
for everyone

Tapi apa mau dikata, "time goes so fast". Setelah syal selesai, kukebut mbikin tasnya.

When I took a vacation in Indonesia, my sister, the university student, wanted me to accompany her to make small doll for souvenir. This activity started from her holiday after middle examination because she was boring and wanted to spend holiday with useful activity. When she watched television and saw someone making doll for souvenir, then she was interested in making doll. Sometime, my other sisters, my mother, and brother in law also helped her to make doll. My sister got the wasted cloth from garbage of my mother`s business of hand-made daster “Indonesian name of long dress”. When her holiday was over, my sister stopped in making doll and then she pushed me to make it by myself

Finally, I with my friends from Malaysia,  An and Zairin finished to make patchwork. Patchwork is famous japanese handycraft. I am happy bacause this is my first time to make patchwork and I am able to make a hand-made bag. First time, Allthing about sewing is difficult for example making blouse, shirt, or cloth with beautiful pattern. Last time, I tried to use sewing machine, but I could not be a good tailor. So, when I make pachtwork, I am afraid I cannot complete my hand-made bag. But An, my friend, who taught me bag,  always encourages me, I should try the best. She make me confident that patchwork is not so difficult. No need sewing machine, but by hand. ". Because of easiness of making, we use cotton cloth.

Because  we cannot meet every day, therefore making patchwork takes time around 1,5 months. An said that "she can make one bag within 2 weeks". We use cotton cloth, because easy to make it.

Blog EntryOsieJul 27, '06 4:06 AM
for everyone
Just now, I came from my friend house, Tuti san. In the morning, I with Tuti san made osie. Sugiyama san teached us and Komori san accompanied her child. Osie is similar with origami but cutting only and template with glue because it has already had pattern. Before making osie, we made akai siso juice. Akai siso is a kind of japanese traditional drinks having colour of red. Making akai siso is easy, pour the plenty of water into the siso leaf and boil under medium fire. When the leaf-water mixture is boiling and the siso leaf colour turns red, the cooking step is finished, throw the leaf, put sugar and citrus into the red solution. And then syrup or juice is ready. By adding some water, we can drink or we can put kaki gori (scraped ice) into the juice.

The Indonesian who living in Japan, I never heared about Oshibana. I often hear about Origami, Ikebana, Patchwork and other hand craft that familiar I hear. From I attended Oshibana class at Utsunomiya Library, I know something about Oshibana. What is Oshibana? Oshibana is the Japanese art of making pictures with pressed plants. Introduce ours to the art of oshibana by making book markers, stationary, cards, small pictures that can be framed, etc.

Flower is kept until dry, keep flower that cutting in oshibana sheet. Afther 3 until 4 days, dried flower can make hand craft. It is interenting and easy for everybody
Menarik memang, apalagi kerajinan tangan mudah buat semua orang。

When beginning summer in Japan, it is very good to make oshibana. Flower start blooming, especially Cherry Blossom (Sakura). With dry sakura we can make key holder for gift when we come back to Indonesia.

With oshibana, we can make something usefull, fresh brain and we know Japanese culture from close. If you want to know my oshibana craft with my friend in Utsunomiya Library, you can see in my blog at http://ikusnaryati.blogsome.com in oshibana part.
